That said, if someone raises pre-flop after you, it would be wise to re-pop them to see where you’re at. If a third raise comes, you’re behind. If not, you’re either even or ahead. Taking this approach might not win you as much money, but it will save you a ton. Poker isn’t about winning. Anyone can win with a made hand. Poker is about minimizing your loses. That’s exactly what you need to do with Big Slick.

There is one time you should raise with Big Slick, and that’s if it’s suited. By doing this, you’re building a big pot just in case you hit the nut flush. Even if you don’t hit the nut flush, you will still have a shot at Broadway, a full house, trips, as well as many other winning hands. Keep in mind that top pair and two pair are not hands that win the big money in Hold Em. It’s all about full houses, flushes and straights. Don’t overvalue your hands, and especially don’t overvalue Big Slick.
